Wsus not updating computer list
Build a script that reboots every computer all at once.Schedule that script to run after users leave for the day.You must accomplish both steps for the computer to be considered compliant.WSUS falls short in how it handles the reboot step.Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) is truly of one of Microsoft’s noteworthy accomplishments.
On PCs with this issue I tried: recreating C:\Windows\Software Distribution\Data Store and C:\Windows\Software Distribution\Download folders, removing following reg values: "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Wi ndows Update\ Sus Client Id Validation", "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Wi ndows Update\ Sus Client Id " and running wuauclt /resetauthorization and wuauclt /detectnow but updates on those PCs still not working.
Most of you don’t want to bother users with a post-update reboot.
Kicking off a reboot during the workday irritates users and can cause lost work.
While verifying Windows patches were up to date on a few Windows 7 clients, WSUS showed one PC needed some updates with approval: "install" but status: "not installed." Running Windows Update check on the PC was not showing any updates available from the WSUS.
The Windows file was showing differently that there were updates detected matching the number that WSUS showed with approval: "install", but Windows Update would never install them.[more] Recreating the Software Distribution folder on the client seemed to have resolved this synchronization problem.
